The most over looked part of purchasing a hot tub is usually the construction of the hot tub. I often ask people this simple question. Do you want the construction of your vehicles braking system to be trusted to the lowest bidder? I think not. We want the products we purchase to be a good value, yet offer us years of enjoyment. This is very important to a spa. Since there are different manufacturers of electric motors that can work in a hot tub, why do so many spa manufacturers rely on the technology offered by one company? Yes, most hot tub manufacturers that offer a well built tub will usually settle for nothing less than G.E. Motors® in their hot tubs. Very easy to figure out why, they don’t want continuous problems with their hot tubs. G.E. offers their switchless technology hot tub motors worldwide yet only a handful of spa manufacturers utilize them in their tubs. We suggest that everyone that is thinking about the future purchase of a hot tub check out the sections included herein to make an informed decision when they walk into their hot tub and spa retailers place of business. As we have all heard knowledge is power, so arm yourself to the hilt, they are. What makes their hot tub such a great hot tub, is there evidence of these facts, who said they are great? Ask yourself and the spa sales representative these questions. After all you’re about to spend over $3000.00 on a spa or hot tub that should last at least ten years or more. You do spend more time investigating the next vehicle you may purchase. Look under that shiny skin of acrylic of the home spa and ask questions. What kind of warranty is offered? Do they perform the service themselves or is it through a third party that has no ties to them? Remember that if a hot tub company is only willing to offer a 1—5 year structural spa warranty, they probably don’t plan on it lasting much longer than that either. Your home has a structural warranty and we do hope most of those offer more than a 1—5 year warranty on it. If not, you may want to talk to the builder too. Be wise and check out the portable spa industry reporting agencies, such as the Better Business Bureau and Consumers Digest because they have no ties to any one manufacturer or dealer. Most importantly we wish to thank the many hot tub and spa manufacturers, suppliers and area representatives for furnishing this information. Our undying gratitude to you all…...great job! “Doc” |
